It was the 146th annual Carman fair this year.
It was my Grandma’s 40th high school reunion.
This is my 100th episode of The Adventures of JJ Pickletoes.
.
I hadn’t been to the Carman Fair before this year, and I still haven’t been to the fair.
I didn’t go to my Grandma’s 40th high school reunion.
I did go to the 146th annual Carman Fair Parade.
I am writing the 100th episode of the Adventures of JJ Pickletoes.
.
Coincidence.
I don’t think so.
.
I went to the Carman Fair Parade with Joseph, my parents, my Grandparents.
My grandparents have been going to watch the parade with their friends for 25 years.
Yes, 25 years.
They have been going to the same spot to watch the parade every year.
.
Until now.
.
My Grandparents still did visit with their friends.
.
Why change spots after all those years?
.
That is a good question.
.
That is a question for the church ladies.
.
I guess some traditions just change.
.
Sometimes you see something different when you change traditions.
.
Joseph and I were able to see it for the first time while we were at the parade.
We hadn’t seen it before,
and we wouldn’t have seen it if we weren’t forced to change spots.
.
Okay, maybe Joseph didn’t see it this time, but he might see it when we watch the parade again.

There it is.

No, it isn’t that Massey Harris tractor.

No, it isn’t Sparky the firefighter mascot.

There it is, like it has been for probably more than 100 years.
.
It was old when my Great Grandma went there when she was a teenager.
.
It is even older now.
.
The Boyne River has changed course and some streets in that part of Carman have changed course.
.
It is still in the same location as it was so many years ago.
.
It is my Great Great Grandfather’s house.
.
Isn’t that interesting?
.
Have you discovered something new when you had to change your traditions?
.
