Has it ever happened to you?
.
Were you trying to do one thing, and you ended up doing something else?
.
It happened to me this week.
.
I learned to do a somersault.
.
Don’t worry, I am okay.
Now.
I was trying to be a big boy and walk down the deck stairs standing up like a big boy.
.
Somersaults are easy when you start at the top of the stairs.
.
There are a few things that I learned about doing somersaults.
.
If you don’t tuck your chin to your chest, don’t worry.
.
Your nose will stop you before your face hits the step.
.
It was lucky that grandpa has been practicing his running skills.
.
He bounded across the yard in a few giant steps and in one fell swoop he caught me on the third step before I could manage another one.
.
The swelling on my nose should go down in a couple of days and I am sure the scratches will heal soon as well.
They say that when these things happen it is your ego that gets hurt the most.
.
Not this time.
.
I have been learning so many things since I turned two years old.
.
I also learned to eat yogurt,
by myself.
With no help from my Mom or my Dad.
.
When you are learning to eat yogurt, you also have to learn how to do laundry.
.
Sometimes the yogurt will get away from your mouth and end up,
on the chair,
on the floor,
and on your shirt.

It was lucky that I wasn’t wearing any pants.
.
Some yogurt must have got on Joseph’s face too.
.
I saw it and went and got a cloth from the bathroom without being asked and wiped it up.

Now that I am thinking about it, it looked a little slimy to be yogurt.
.
I also went to a birthday party.
.
There were lots of my cousins there as well.
It was a lot of fun.
.
I was glad I was there,
it was my birthday party.
.
I got some nice gifts.
.
Thanks for the gifts, and it was nice to see everyone.
.
Then there was some dancing.
.
I didn’t know that you shouldn’t dance on the table.
At least this time I was wearing pants.

It happened to my Mom once, she was only 5 or 6 years old and one of my Grandma’s friends gave her a can of Coca Cola.
It was her first full can of Coca Cola,
lots of sugar, and lots of caffeine.
She was standing on the picnic table as well.
Until the sudden sugar crash.
Then she just went to sleep.
Let me know in the comments a time when you learned to do something other than what you set out to learn.
