They say what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, ……

Who are “They’’ any anyway?

Actually, it was Friedrich Nietzsche in 1888, who said it first.

I will tell you what the end of that phrase is,

and it isn’t always correct.

It was just a regular Monday morning.

We were just minding our own business, playing on my mat with my toys, when it happened.

Out of nowhere.

You would think that there would be some kind of warning.

A grunt,

 Or a snort,

Anything.

But there was nothing.

Then I saw it, out of the corner of my eye.

An orange streak,

a flash and it was on us.

The train had already derailed but,

I knew I had to save my friends, Lion and Giraffe.

Now you may know the ending of the saying.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,

except bears.

Maybe Nietzsche didn’t know about bears.

I wasn’t going to let this bear be the end of me.

I had been watching a movie about this bear, so I knew his moves and that he really liked Hunny.

I dodged his first attack.

I remembered some old Judo moves that I had seen and

I quickly got him in a choke hold and an arm bar.

Until he surrounded.

Now we are the best of friends, and we go to bed at the same time.

We talk to each other first thing in the morning.

He is a really good listener,

for a bear.

I still have to keep on my toes because you never know when he will get hungry and bears just don’t always eat vegetables.

This bear came from California, from a place called Disneyland.

His Great Great Grandfather was adopted in Ontario by a soldier from Winnipeg a city close to where I live before he went overseas with the Second Canadian Infantry Brigade during World War 1.

Winnie wasn’t allowed to go to France, so he moved into the London Zoo where he was visited most every day by Christopher Robin and his dad A.A. Milne.

You will be able to figure out the rest.

Do you remember a time when you had to wrestle a bear to save your friends?
