What is this all about? 

Having a license? 

Doesn’t it seem over the top? 

You need a license for your dog. 

You need a license for your cat. 

You need a license for your bike. 

Even James Bond has a license.

You need a license to practice law and a license to practice medicine. 

When have you done enough practicing and finally get down to doing? 

To be fair you need a license to practice your driving.  

At least it says it is your learner’s permit, 

you get another license when you pass your test,  

unlike law and medicine. 

There are a couple of kids in my grandparents neighbourhood that are practicing their driving and have a license to practice as well. 

Do you really need a license for all these things? 

Do you really need to follow the safety rules for driving and biking? 

I was on the fence about those things, 

Until. 

I took my car for a little test drive. 

They say should take a car on a test drive before you buy it. 

I wasn’t going to buy it, I thought that I might just use it. 

Do you really need a seat belt or a helmet to drive this little import car? 

I didn’t think so either. 

I might have changed my mind on that topic. 

Let me tell you. 

I was going along in my car, the horn doesn’t work but Fred Flintstone would be happy with speed and the fuel economy that I was getting.  

Sometimes you need a break after a one or two meter journey. 

Like other cars you have to be careful where you park. 

If you park near the cupboards to take a breath, you shouldn’t let go of the handles. 

Just sayin’. 

You might fall off the car, if you are lucky enough to park by the kitchen cupboards, the cupboards will break your fall. 

My body didn’t get hurt but I really hurt my feelings and that is almost as bad. 

Grandpa says that if you ever get a feeling, you should just sit for a minute and wait for it to pass. 

What does he know? 

I just cried until grandma picked me up and then I was fine. 

I am just glad I didn’t park close to the fireplace hearth, it would have been a little harder to land on. 

Let me know a time when you wished you had parked in a different spot.
