Did you ever think that you could do it?

At my young age I didn’t think I could do it. 

.

Read. 

.

My brother Joseph and I just received some nice gifts from our good friends in Germany. 

It was very thoughtful of them. 

There were some nice towels and some things for Joseph and this German bath book to share. 

I hope we don’t have to share the bath water.. 

I heard that people had to do that in the old days. 

The days before cell phones and the internet. 

.

Now that we have this German picture book I have to learn to read it. 

I know that the words are in English which is helpful, but the animal characters are German. 

I will have to look at the German pictures of the characters. 

It does look exciting to read the English version of the book and follow along with the German animals.

Joseph, Mom and I opened the parcel together. 

Then Grandma came to see what was in it. 

Some things never change.  

It will someday, 

 apparently not today. 

.

Joseph was only awake for the fun stuff. 

Then I had to read the book to him. 

Joseph was tired after all that and had to have a sleep. 

There was still work to do today. 

I had to connect a water line to the fridge so that Mom and Dad could get ice cubes whenever they wanted. 

We won’t know if it works until tomorrow, but there aren’t any leaks so far. 

With plumbing, that is always good news. 

.

There is always another job to do when the work is done. 

.

The cleanup. 

.

I had to do the cleanup as well. 

Yes, Joseph was still sleeping or sleeping again. 

.

It is hard to remember his order. 

.

Eat, sleep, poop, or is it eat, poop, sleep. 

Either way, there is a lot of sleeping and pooping for him. 

.

And a lot of work for me. 

.

Do you remember when you got a present from someone who lives far away? 

Or a time when you had to do extra work because your brother or sister was sleeping?
