THE ADVENTURES OF JJ PICKLETOES

People were wondering when it was going to happen for me. 

When was I going to do it? 

Well, I finally did it. 

.

Not a lot, but a little bit,  

a few here and a few there. 

A little farther every day. 

.

What has it really got me? 

.

Just a little glory. 

.

Not for me, for my parents. 

.

Is JJ walking yet? 

.

Why yes, he is, and he isn’t even two. 

He is very advanced for his age.  

.

Whatever. 

Now that I am walking, there are just more responsibilities. 

.

Now I have to get up into my chair at the table, by MYSELF. 

I have to walk to my story chair by MYSELF. 

.

I have more jobs that I have to do. 

There are more jobs that I can do at the workbench. 

Fixing and building things.

.

All because I am walking. 

.

JJ now that you can walk, you have to pull your weight around here. 

And the vacuum. 

Yes, I have to do the vacuuming now. 

No, not all of the time. 

.

Just when the floors need it. 

.

Now I need to practice for another job. 

I heard the adults talking. 

Something about building a fence around the backyard. 

.

I can only imagine who will be digging the holes. 

.

Me. 

It will probably be me. 

Just in case it is me, I am practicing with this pick up tool. 

I know it isn’t the same as a posthole auger, but it is similar. 

.

As I get older and start doing more things, there will just be more responsibilities. 

.

It is like my Great Grandma has said to my Grandma. 

“You don’t want to learn too many things on the farm, 

because then people will just want you to do more  

jobs. 

And I have enough jobs already. “

 People being my Great Grandpa.
