I was using this new tool.
I saw someone else using it.
I saw that he moved it along the wall until it beeped and then he took his pencil out and drew on the wall!
It was just a little pencil mark.
I can make a bigger mark than that with the pencil.
.
Can I draw on the wall now?
.
We will see.
.
Well, I found out that you can’t,
you can,
but you shouldn’t.
.
You get in trouble if you draw on the wall,
or the floor.
.
Later, my dad took this tool out of the toolbox, and it started beeping right away.
.
Is it defective?
.
He said, it isn’t. .
It is a stud finder, that is why it is beeping.

.
Well, it was beeping when I used it too.
.
I don’t know about these things.
I just use them.
.
This is one of my first jobs in the house, that I could use a real tool.
.
I had been using the knocking method before this.
Which is fun.
.
It is not as accurate,
but my Mom likes it better because you don’t need to use a pencil as well.
.
You just walk around the house knocking on the walls as you go by.
It is quite fun.
.
Apparently, there is a different sound when you knock on the stud than when you knock on the part of the wall that is hollow.
.
I now know what is going on.
You take the stud finder and use it to find the stud.

.
You mark the stud, then you draw around the electrical box that you are installing.
You cut out a hole for the electrical box, using a key hole saw.
You put a wire in the box and then you put the box in the wall and connect the wires.
.

Nothing to it.
.
I got in trouble for drawing on the wall and the floor with a pencil.
.
It is a good job that I didn’t learn how to use that key hole saw.
.
Do you remember a time when you got in to trouble when you were just trying to help?
.
Let me know in the comments.
