That’s correct.
It is the day I have been looking forward to,
It doesn’t happen very often, but it has happened.
.
I know what you are thinking.
It is getting to be that time of year.
.
For our family, the Christmas gatherings have started,
You may celebrate Hannukka or something else this time of year.
The meanings may be different, but the process is probably similar.
There are gatherings with your families, extended families, and gatherings with your friends.
For me it is fine because some of my friends are my cousins so the once a year gathering isn’t as awkward as it could be.
But that isn’t the day that I am celebrating today.
Today is a rare day.
.
IT IS A SNOW DAY.
.
The roads are closed.
The schools are closed.
Lots of businesses were closed.
.
Of course, with today’s technology, Mom had to work from home.
Dad had to stay home as well.
He had snow to shovel.
I got to stay home as well and just played and did my chores of course,
but mostly played.

I know that snow days aren’t as bad as they were in the past.
Grandpa said that on a bad snow day, his parents would tie a long rope to him and send him from the house out to the barn to do the chores.
He would tie the rope to the barn door,
and his Dad would tie his end to the house door.
That way he could find his way back to the house after the chores were done.
There wasn’t time to play on a snow day when my Grandparents were kids.
Not like now.
They turned out more or less normal, so I probably will too.
.
Even on a day like today Grandpa spent three hours clearing snow in his neighbourhood.
.
He was just coming up the driveway when he collapsed,
to the ground.
.
Grandma was quick to get to the phone and started dialing.
Then she saw some movement,
just a small movement but never the less a small sign of life.
Grandpa was getting up.
“Sorry”, Grandma said, to the person on the other end of the phone call.
The WestJet travel agent was more than accommodating.
Grandma was able to cancel her one way ticket with no return date.
.
Here is my question.
.
How do you like to spend time on your snow day?
.
Let me know in the comments.
