YOU WOULD THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARM. EPISODE 66

It is a frosty morning.

We are out for an adventure in the ‘hood.

We are doing some interesting things.

We stopped and watched a gaggle of geese in the field.

They are having a rest before starting their long journey to some place with a warmer winter.

I should go with them.

Wouldn’t it be nice to spend the winters somewhere warmer than here?

Which is most anywhere else in the world.

.

We met some kids going to school.

Some of them are happy to see us and give us a big wave.

Grandpa says they are waving at him, but I know that they are waving at me.

He had the same discussion with my mom at Disneyland.

He thought Ariel was waving at him, but we all knew Ariel was waving at my mom.

.

One teenage boy puts his head down and pretends not to see us.

.

Have you seen my colourful blanket?

It is hard to miss.

.

I see that there are stop signs at most corners, some even have a 4 under them.

Why do all the stop signs at the corners have a 4?

What happened to 1,2 and 3?

.

I am learning that avenues generally go east and west, and streets go north and south.

I am also learning the directions.

Never Eat Soggy Wieners

I have eaten soggy wieners, they were blended with carrots.

It wasn’t so bad.

.

This is a long adventure that we are on this cool frosty morning.

I am glad Grandma made sure that I was dressed for the weather.

I have my ski pants on, under my parka with a hood.

I have a nice warm hat.

I have mitts.

I have winter boots on.

And, I am tucked in under two layers of a folded up blanket.

It is very warm.

Under the blanket.

.

Who wants to stay under a nice warm blanket when Grandpa will lift me up to look at the street signs, the stop signs and the geese?

.

Not me.

My hands and feet were warm,

 under the blanket.

.

What I didn’t tell you is that I took off my boots almost right away because my feet were hot under the blanket.

I never did put on my mitts.

Do other kids like putting on their mitts?

They too small and hard to get on.

It was all fine until we got to the last corner.

I was out having a close look at the stop sign, and my hands and feet got cold.

My hands especially.

If only I liked wearing my mitts. All would have been well.

But I don’t.

.

Do you know what Grandpa did after we got back to the house?

He made a pair of mitts for kids who don’t like wearing mitts.

.

He found some warm material.

He folded it in half and did some sewing,

He folded the material in half again and did some more sewing.

Then he did some cutting.

It was like Origami for material.

Then he turned them inside out, which was really outside out.

He added some Velcro at the sides.

And voila!

Mitts that are easy to put on and they stay on.

Now my hands won’t be cold on my next frosty day adventure.

.

Because I am not like the geese.

I am not going somewhere warmer for the winter.

.

Do you like the winter here, or would you rather go somewhere warmer?

.
