You know the song.

It’s a long way to Tipperary, the song about a British soldier from Ireland fighting in World war l, longing for home.

It is also a long drive to Tipperary, from here,

if that is where you want to go.

I am glad that we weren’t going there, because our drive was long enough.

I have never been to Tipperary so maybe it would be nice.

It is Ireland’s largest inland county, famous for its farmland, bogland and the Galtee Mountains.

That really doesn’t matter because we weren’t going there.

We were going somewhere else.

We were headed to Narcisse, MB.

Narcisse, MB.

Home of the Manitoba snake pits.

I met my cousin there.

We looked at the Garter snakes, from far and from near.

They were much closer than Grandmas would have liked, but they weren’t there.

We looked at the snakes, there were thousands of them, but I only touched one.

That was enough.

You have to remember to wash your hands after touching a snake or really after touching anything.

My cousin and I then went for an hour and a half walk to calm down from all of the excitement.

We were both tired after a long walk like that.

We didn’t walk of course because we are in strollers, but it must be nearly the same.

We worked up such a hunger that we had to head back to my cousin’s house for well-deserved pizza.

We were late getting home, and I was so tired that I fell asleep in the car.

That is the great thing about being a kid.

You can just go to sleep whenever you are tired, no matter where you are.

It was an adventurous day, and I am glad I went,

Maybe someday I will go to Tipperary.

Let me know in the comments a time that you were tired after a day of adventure.
