What are those things that Mom is taking out of the closet?
One is black and the other is multicoloured like a Picasso painting.
I like the multicoloured one better, it seems like you would be a fun person if you had one like that.
And you won’t lose it as easy.
Do think it is something that I get to play in?
I think I could fit inside, but not now.
While I had my back turned mom filled one up and is working on the other one.
I better help her take things out because now there is no room for me.
Maybe these aren’t for me to play in?
I see now that they are not.
These are suitcases.
The black one is for Dad’s clothes and the multicoloured one if for Mom’s clothes.
But that leaves me with another question.
Why do we need suitcases?
It can only mean one thing.
Road Trip.
But, to where?
I will soon find out.
We got in the car early the next morning and off we went.
My parents must have waited until the coldest day of the day to leave, because it was very cold.
Then we drove, and we drove, and we drove.
All I could see was white, white, white, just snow everywhere.
I speak some English, I really don’t, but I can understand some.
I asked my parents where are we going?
They know I only understand English, yet they said “Saskatchewan.”
Is that Tagalog or French, maybe it is German.
“Regina, Saskatchewan,” they said.
We are here now.
A hotel with a pool!
Awesome!
You know I can almost swim.
That is just the first day.
The next day, after a good breakfast.

And of course, a good cup of coffee. I am ready to go.
We went to meet the famous Al Capone.
He was smuggling some booze in the tunnels below the city of Moose Jaw.
These tunnels were first used by the Chinese railway workers to live and work, and to escape racism, after others were attacked in 1908.
Wow, that is crazy stuff.
Maybe the tunnels were built to move heating oil throughout the city, and it was a convenient place to live and hide and escape?
I never know where I am going but, it is always interesting.
This is another reason why you should always carry a small flashlight in your pocket or pack.
Isn’t that right Mom?
And Shannon?
And a watch that glows in the dark.
When were you glad that you had your flashlight with you?
