THE ADVENTURES OF JJ PICKLETOES

THEY tried to tell me that it wasn’t a good idea.  

What do THEY know and who are THEY anyway? 

And, why do THEY think that THEY know. 

There are always going to be those kind of people, ones that think they what is best for you. 

Am I the only one who thinks that? 

I bet not. 

You know what my grandpa says about advice? 

He says “If you want my advice, you can ask me, 

And I will do the same.” 

Do this, don’t do that,  

Don’t stick your tongue on a cold metal post or the side of the sled.  

Who would try to eat the side of their sled, especially on a very cold day?  

I tried it, it wasn’t that good, and it was pretty hard. The sled might be easier to chew when I get more teeth. 

I guess THEY are right sometimes.  

Be careful, in your sled, THEY said, 

you might run into a big solid piece of snow on the road. 

Really, is that for me? 

I know that I am advanced for my age, but I can’t ride on my sled and pull it at the same time. 

Heck, I can’t even walk yet. 

It seems to me that I am not the one pulling the sled. Then letting it go, so it goes fast and slides right into a big piece of hard snow on the road. 

Do you know what happens to a sled when it is going fast and hits a big piece of hard snow? 

I do. 

It tips over and the boy that is in the sled rolls out onto the road and lies there for what seems to be hours before his parents get there to rescue him.  

It was really only a few seconds but I can’t tell time yet so how would I really know. 

Some kids would think that is funny, 

I am one of those kids. 

I am getting to be a big boy now because I can sit and play on my own for several minutes, I could do it longer, 

 but I don’t want to. 

Today was quite a day, not just for me. 

For my great grandma as well. 

My great grandma slipped and fell on the ice.  

She broke her hip. 

She probably won’t be walking for a while, 

me neither.  

Maybe we will learn to walk together. 

When you are learning something new it can help if you have a partner. 

I am sure she won’t really need my help, but I will try to help her. 

You should always help other people if you can. 

If you can make someone else’s day better, you should do it.
