THE ADVENTURES OF JJ PICKLETOES

Really, it is no wonder that I am confused, and I imagine so are other people. 

Maybe you don’t remember some of your early years.  

The early years when your parents let you do things that you shouldn’t do, especially things adults shouldn’t do.  

Then they tell you that you shouldn’t be doing that now that you are older. 

Really? 

Wasn’t it your parents in the first place that showed you how to do things. 

Now that I am older and I am eating almost solid food, well more like mushed food, I am starting to get a little wiser. 

I am not telling you that I am getting smarter because I know no one likes it when people tell you how smart they are.  

And we have all heard someone tell us how smart they are, and we appreciate that. 

I just want to tell you that I have a “friend”, who has a question. 

“My “friend” is wondering about eating his lunch on the table.” 

You would think that it should be perfectly all right to eat your lunch on the table. 

I thought so as well, then I noticed how other people eat their lunch at the table. 

I eat my lunch on the table, I am actually sitting in my chair that is on the table and eating my lunch. 

The adults are eating their lunch at the table, but they are sitting on their chairs that are on the floor not the table. 

Can you see now why I am a bit confused? 

I am sure that if I was an adult sitting on the table having my lunch someone would point that out. 

They would say something like, 

“You shouldn’t sit on the table and eat your lunch it is bad manners.” 

And I would have to say to them,  

“No, it isn’t bad manners to sit on the table and eat my lunch. 

 It is bad etiquette. 

You see etiquette, is the proper rules to follow and manners are how you make people feel, more or less. 

So, in fact, it is bad etiquette to sit on the table to eat your lunch but, 

it is bad manners to say something.
